Position Summary:
Middletown Medical is seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) to join our healthcare team in Middletown, New York. As an established primary and urgent care medical group, we are committed to providing accessible, high-quality, and patient-centered healthcare.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with mental health concerns. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support the mental health and overall well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.
- Diagnose and manage psychiatric conditions within the scope of practice and individual clinical privileges.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with applicable regulations and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor patient progress, treatment effectiveness, medication response, and potential adverse effects.
- Provide appropriate follow-up care and coordinate referrals to psychiatrists, therapists, and other behavioral health specialists when needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient medical records.
- Collaborate with primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals to integrate mental health care with general medical services.
- Educate patients and families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.
- Recognize psychiatric emergencies and arrange appropriate escalation or referral when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.
- Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license and registration.
- Current national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Prescriptive authority and other required credentials applicable to the position.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health practice preferred; qualified new graduates may be considered.
